About TRTP Therapy – The Richards Trauma Process

TRTP Therapy is a simple, yet highly effective process that allows people to resolve the past traumas and negative experiences that have prevented them from living a full and happy life. The therapist carefully leads the client through the process that helps people to change their negative beliefs about themselves to positive beliefs. These beliefs we learn in our childhood are generally referred to "Unconscious Core Beliefs" and we are often unaware of them as we move into adulthood. With the trauma gone and new core beliefs about themselves, others and the world, it is possible to make choices from a place of safety and calm. People are then able to create the life they want.

TRTP Therapy is being used by an increasing number of counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists and is proving to be effective and powerful in changing people’s lives. What Happens in TRTP Therapy?

​TRTP Therapy consists of usually 3 to 4 sessions of around 90 minutes each. In the first session we deal with these unconscious core beliefs and the patterns of behaviour that have been created. An important part of the process to know, is that it is not necessary to re-visit the distressing event or even talk about it in the session.  In this way people are not re-traumatised by the work. During this session the therapist introduces the client to “The Truth of Who They Are”. We give people the opportunity to experience who they truly are without those negative unconscious core beliefs: this is what we call the “authentic self”.

In the second session we remove the emotional charge from these past events so the reactions or triggering can stop. The person can then better manage most situations that arise. In the third session we support the person to move forward with new positive core beliefs that empower them to live the life they want.

The process is both simple and safe for the client as the TRTP Therapist leads them through all the steps of the process. The process is suitable for almost anyone who is really ready for change and most people experience significant results. Very often people experience significant healing after the three sessions of TRTP Therapy. For many it is life changing. 


What Makes TRTP Therapy Work?

​So how do we deal with these unconscious core beliefs? It is very difficult to deal with these beliefs as they live in our unconscious. When we experience anxiety, depression, anger or doubt, we often don't know where these feelings come from. As a result, we can find them hard to talk about and resolve. Just talking about them often does not help. 

​For example, we might feel anxious at some point and think that the anxiety is the actual problem. But in reality, the anxiety is a symptom. The truth is that the anxiety started somewhere and is usually linked to some earlier event or experience. TRTP Therapy can get to the root cause of the issue and can remove the charge from the event and symptoms can disappear.

TRTP Therapy uses the language of the unconscious which is the imagination. And using the power of what TRTP Therapy calls "Deep Re-Imagining", the process deals with the trauma and distressing events where they are stored, and that is, in the unconscious and the body. The event is then finished, and we can return to calm and feeling safe.  In TRTP Therapy, we say: "It's over... and you are safe now". This is the power of TRTP and for many people, it is life changing.
